Northern Cultural Museum

The former residence of the Ito family, who were prominent landlords of Niigata, is now open to the public as the Northern Culture Museum.
You can learn about the rich culture and daily lives of peasants of Niigata, which has been Japan’s primary producer of rice.
The Museum’s large hall has an area of about 53 m², or of thirty-two tatami mats, and it is complemented by a Japanese garden that takes on a different appearance in each season.
Cherry blossoms and wisteria flowers bloom in spring, and the golden red foliage is beautiful in autumn.
