Akushiro Wall

Akushiro Wall

Akushiro Wall is a large rock cliff created from lava. At 500 m high and 2 km long, it is the highest single rock formation in Japan.
For approximately 100,000 years Shomyo Falls has eroded the lava plateau created by a large-scale eruption of Mt. Tateyama to create this rugged, and almost unapproachable landscape which is appropriately called "Akushiro (bad castle) Wall".
