A spacious nature park where you can experience Japan’s satoyama landscape and culture with all five senses

Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park is a vast nature park where visitors can experience the rich environment of Japan’s satoyama and the wisdom of traditional rural life.
Created by redeveloping the former “Heisei Memorial Park,” it offers a wide range of facilities and programs that allow everyone—from families with children to senior visitors—to enjoy a full day at their own pace.
Across the grounds, Japan’s traditional satoyama landscape, the gentle rural area at the foot of the mountains, is faithfully recreated.
Rice paddies and fields, clear streams, and groves of mixed trees spread out before you, creating scenery that feels both nostalgic and calming.
The park is especially attractive for its seasonal changes: cherry blossoms and rapeseed flowers in spring, deep green foliage in summer, golden rice ears and autumn leaves in fall, and a tranquil snowscape in winter.
At Gifu Seiryu Satoyama Park, visitors can not only enjoy the natural surroundings but also take part in hands-on programs that showcase satoyama culture and everyday life.
In the on-site craft studios, you can try woodworking using locally sourced timber or experience pottery that lets you feel the warmth and texture of the clay.
These activities allow not only children but also adults to slow down and rediscover the simple joy of making things with their own hands.
Next to the park, there is a Japanese-style public bath called “Satoyama no Yu” as well as a relaxing footbath, both ideal for soothing tired bodies after a day of walking and exploring.
Within the park itself, there are safe playground areas for children and a spacious lawn where visitors can enjoy picnics and casual outdoor activities.
The event plaza hosts seasonal events and local festivals throughout the year, making the park a lively place for interaction between visitors and the local community.
