A Historic Park Built on the Former Residence of Warlord Horio Yoshiharu

Located in Oguchi Town, Horio Residence Site Park is a historical site developed on the former residence of Horio Yoshiharu, a prominent samurai commander during Japan’s Warring States period (late 15th to late 16th century).
Horio served Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the powerful warlord who unified Japan during this tumultuous era, and later became the first lord of the Matsue Domain, in what is now Shimane Prefecture.

The park features informative signboards that trace the legacy of the Horio family, allowing visitors to learn about local history while enjoying a stroll through the peaceful grounds.
Running through the park is the Gojo River, lined with cherry trees that bloom beautifully in spring.
In autumn, colorful foliage adds to the charm, making the park a scenic destination in every season.
With playgrounds and open lawns, Horio Residence Site Park is also ideal for families with children.
A riverside walking path offers a pleasant route for walking or jogging, serving as a relaxing space for both locals and tourists.
