Chohachi Memorial Museum

Chohachi Memorial Museum

The Chohachi Memorial Museum is located in Kasuizan Jokan-ji Temple, which belongs to the Jodo Shinshu Hongan-ji sect.
It is on the other side of the street across from Chohachi Art Museum.
In the late Edo period (1603–1868) when Jokan-ji Temple was rebuilt, Chohachi came from Edo with two disciples to participate in the construction work.
In the Memorial Museum, you can see his works that include paintings on the ceiling, sculptures and plasterworks.
Among them, paintings such as “Unryu” and “Hiten no Zo” were designated as tangible cultural properties by Shizuoka Prefecture in 2011.
