Kitaro Square

An honorary citizen of Chofu, Shigeru Mizuki lived in the city for over 50 years, and is the creator of a number of masterpieces including 'GeGeGe no Kitaro', 'Kappa no Sanpei' and 'Terebi-kun'.
As the birthplace of many of Mizuki's works, Kitaro Square was established in city of Chofu.
It contains a number of art pieces and playground equipment that feature the characters and yokai that appear in some of Mizuki's works, such as 'GeGeGe no Kitaro'. This park is a treat for fans of Mizuki's work, as well as locals and visitors alike.
As for the maintenance of the park, it's funded via crowdfunded contributions from the Hometown Tax system.
Come on down and enjoy the Nurikabe climbing wall, the Ittan-Momen bench, the Kitaro's house slide and other attractions based on the world of Mizuki's manga.
