Kamei-Hachiman Jinja Shrine

Kamei-Hachiman Jinja is known as an ocean god who protects seafarers against bad luck at sea. Many fishermen visit here to pray for a big catch.
It also has a main shrine building, which is rarely seen these days, made entirely of hinoki cypress, with copper panels, and particular attention to ornamentation.
Built from granite in the late Kamakura period the shrine was moved to its current location from Shinozuka Park, and designated as a National Important Cultural Property.
