The 47th Yokosuka Mikoshi Parade will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026.

Around 50 mikoshi portable shrines and festival floats will gather in central Yokosuka, filling the streets with energetic chants and traditional festival music. A total of 52 groups are scheduled to take part in the 2026 event.

The parade will take place at Yokosuka Chuo-dori and the Yokosuka Ferry Terminal parking lot, from 10:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Experience a Traditional Japanese Mikoshi Parade in Yokosuka

Mikoshi are portable shrines carried during Japanese festivals, while festival floats are decorated structures used in local celebrations.

With dozens of mikoshi and floats taking part, the Yokosuka Mikoshi Parade offers visitors a chance to experience the atmosphere of a traditional Japanese festival in central Yokosuka.

Parade Schedule

The parade begins on Yokosuka Chuo-dori at 10:45 a.m.

At around 12:00 p.m., the parade inside the Yokosuka Ferry Terminal parking lot is scheduled to begin. The Chuo-dori parade is expected to finish at around 1:10 p.m., while the ferry terminal section is scheduled to finish at around 2:00 p.m. The event ends at 2:30 p.m.

Traffic restrictions on Yokosuka Chuo-dori are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
