Since launching its “Curry Town Initiative” in 1999, Yokosuka has embraced curry as part of its local identity.
This autumn, the beloved Yokosuka Curry Festival returns on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Verny Park.
Local restaurants will serve a wide variety of curry dishes, including the famous Yokosuka Navy Curry and JMSDF Curry, both inspired by authentic naval recipes.

Yokosuka JMSDF Curry – 10th Anniversary Commemorative Ceremony

The Yokosuka JMSDF Curry was born through close collaboration between the City of Yokosuka and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force (JMSDF) Yokosuka District Headquarters.
Each dish is faithfully reproduced by local restaurants, based on the authentic curry recipes served aboard JMSDF vessels.
Launched in 2015, this beloved project celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025, marking a decade of connection between the city and its proud naval heritage.

To commemorate this milestone, a special ceremony will be held to unveil the renewed “Yokosuka JMSDF Curry.”
