Sakura Festivals and Hanami Events in Yokosuka
Kinugasayama Park is one of Yokosuka’s best-known cherry blossom spots, and the flowers are usually at their best from late March to early April. In spring, Yokosuka offers not only hanami but also local festivals and guided walks with historical highlights.
The 28th Kitakurihama Sakura Festival
Held at Negishi Park, also known as Traffic Park, this cherry blossom festival features a flea market, food stalls, a bingo event, and a performance by the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Band. It is a longtime spring tradition in the Kitakurihama area, where the park is surrounded by cherry blossoms.
Visitors can enjoy hanami while browsing market stalls and watching stage events at one of the area’s popular cherry blossom viewing spots.

Chiyogasaki Battery Site Sakura Festival
This special opening gives visitors a chance to enjoy beautiful white Oshima cherry blossoms at a former Meiji-era coastal battery site. The site will be open every day during the event period, and food trucks and craft workshops are also scheduled for March 28 and 29.
The site is usually open mainly on weekends and holidays, but during cherry blossom season it will be open for seven consecutive days. It offers a chance to enjoy both history and spring scenery in one visit.

The 79th Tsukayama Park Sakura Festival
This sakura festival takes place around Tsukayama Park. About 1,000 cherry trees, including Somei Yoshino, Yamazakura, and Oshima cherry trees, come into bloom, and visitors can enjoy them together with views of Yokosuka Port and Sarushima.
One of the highlights is the combination of cherry blossoms and sweeping views over Tokyo Bay. During the festival period, evening illumination for nighttime cherry blossom viewing is also scheduled.

Guided Cherry Blossom Walks
Walk Through a Cherry Blossom Water Source Area and the Scenic Hashirimizu Low Battery Ruins
This guided tour starts at Hashirimizu Water Source Park and visits waterworks facilities connected to the Hashirimizu system, the Hasaki Green Space observation deck, and the Hashirimizu Low Battery ruins. Along with cherry blossoms, participants can also experience the civil engineering and military heritage that supported Yokosuka’s modernization.
This spring walking tour combines cherry blossom scenery with local history.

This guided walking tour, which requires advance registration, starts from Uraga Station and traces the history of Uraga from the late Edo period into the Meiji era before heading to the cherry blossoms at Chiyogasaki Battery Site.
This tour combines a historical walk through Uraga with cherry blossoms and a visit to the former battery site.
