Tachiki Kannon, Nikkosan Chuzenji Temple

After Shodo Shonin, the founder of Nikkosan, climbed to the summit of Mount Nantai, he built Chuzenji Temple in 784 and turned it into a place of ascetic practices.
At the time, the temple was at the entrance for worship of Mount Nantai, but after the 1902 mountain tsunami, it was moved to Utagahama at Lake Chuzenji.
It is 18th among the 33 sacred places of Kannon in the Bando area; distinctive images of Buddha are worshipped here, such as Tachiki Kannon and Hashiri Daikokuten.
You can freely experience hand-copied sutras and images of Buddha here.
