A peak with a choice of hiking routes

Around the 960-meter summit of Mt. Maru you’ll find a viewing area designated as the Scenic View of Sotochichibu Maruyama.
From here you can look out over the Okuchichibu mountains and the northern part of the Kanto Plain, with distant ranges such as the Northern Alps and the Chūetsu Mountains lining the horizon on clear days.

Mt. Maru is a very popular mountain thanks to its impressive views and easy access.
You can enjoy a casual hike directly from Seibu Railway Ashigakubo Station, or shorten the climb by driving up to Saitama Kenmin-no-Mori (Prefectural Forest) near the trailhead.
