Former Yoda Residence

Former Yoda Residence

The former “Yoda Residence” was built in the middle of the Edo period, and is the second oldest private house in the Izu area.
Its five buildings were designated as tangible cultural properties by Shizuoka Prefecture.
They consist of its “main building” that was built around 300 years ago, along with an annex and three storehouses with namako-kabe walls that were built around 200 years ago.
The Yoda family was a prestigious family who served as village heads; you can feel an elegant atmosphere from the large beams and the 55 cm-wide main pillar of zelkova.
On the bank of a river that flows by the house, there is a row of cherry blossom trees allowing you to enjoy the classic landscape of Japan.
