The Head Shrine of the Hakusan Faith, Revered for Centuries

Shirayama Hime Jinja Shrine is the head shrine of the Hakusan faith, standing at the spiritual center of more than 3,000 Hakusan shrines across Japan.
Founded in ancient times, it has long been revered as the sacred heart of Hakusan worship and is affectionately known to locals as Shirayama-san.
The enshrined deity is the goddess Kukurihime no Mikoto, worshipped for blessings such as harmonious connections, family safety, traffic safety, and prosperity in business.
Many visitors—especially women—come to pray for love, good relationships, and happiness in life.
A long approach shaded by towering cedar trees leads to the main precincts, where the impressive Zuijinmon Gate and the pure mountain air create a deeply sacred atmosphere.
Nearby is the Hakusan Sacred Spring Water, where visitors often fill bottles to take home, believing in its blessings.
Throughout the year, seasonal traditions such as Hatsumode (the first shrine visit of the New Year) and Shichi-Go-San (a rite of passage for children aged three, five, and seven) are celebrated.
With its long history, living faith, and the beauty of nature in every season, Shirayama Hime Jinja Shrine continues to be cherished as one of Japan’s most important spiritual sites.
