Verny Museum

The Verny Museum was built to transmit to future generations the historical significance of the Yokosuka Iron Foundry as well as the achievements of French technologist Léonce Verny, who built this foundry that is considered the starting point of industrial modernization in Japan.
The museum exhibits Japan’s two oldest steam hammers, which are nationally designated as an Important Cultural Property.
The museum’s exterior incorporates features of houses in Bretagne, France, the country Verny was from.
