Saikyo-ji Temple

Saikyo-ji Temple was burnt down during the Siege of Mount Hiei.
Afterwards, Akechi Mitsuhide (1528-1582) rebuilt it. For this reason, it retains the graves of the Akechi family.
On the precincts are the main hall built using Japanese zelkova wood (a nationally designated Important Cultural Property) and a reception hall that was relocated from Fushimi Momoyama Castle, in addition to some jewels of scenic views over Lake Biwa.
