Mii-dera Temple (Onjo-ji)

Mii-dera is the head temple of the Jimon sect of Tendai Buddhism.
This temple is famous for the “evening bell at Miidera,” a scenic view counted as one of the Eight Views of Omi (present-day Shiga prefecture).
This temple is outstandingly rich in historic properties, beginning with the Kondo hall, which is a National Treasure.
Its Kannon-do is the fourteenth temple in a Pilgrimage of 33 Temples devoted to Kannon in the Kansai area.
On spring nights, the temple lights up its cherry trees, filling the precincts with a dreamy atmosphere.
