As the setting of “Miyamoto Musashi,” a novel written by Yoshikawa Eiji, these waterfalls appear as a place for exchanging words of love between Musashi and Otsu. The Kurashina legend says that a golden chicken fell into a waterfall basin, and then a crowing sound began to be heard.
These waterfalls are a recommended spot for hikers of the Nakasendo Road.
