Tenryu Hamanako Railway

Many of the facilities of Tenryu-Futamata Station, where Tenryu Hamanako Railway’s headquarters are located, were built at the time of the opening of the Japanese National Railways Futamata Line.
The station retains much of these facilities, allowing a glimpse of how the steam locomotives were operated and managed at the time.
The railway turntable, used to turn the locomotives, is made of reinforced concrete and steel.
In addition, the fan-shaped train car shed is made from local pine and Tenryu cedar, and it is a registered cultural property of Japan. (The steam locomotives are not currently operated.)
