Omaru Channel

The Omaru Channel is an irrigation channel system that runs all over the city.
Built during the early Edo period (1603-1868), it has a history of over 300 years.
Its total length, including tributaries, is about 70 km.
There are waterside parks along the channel, and throughout the year, the channel has scenic areas with lotuses, hydrangeas, rice plants, or autumnal leaves, depending on the season.
