Kosho-ji Temple

Kosho-ji Temple is said to have been built in 1368.
Its Jizo Hall houses a Kannon statue designated as a cultural property by Tokyo Metropolis.
Created in the late Heian period (794–1185), the statue predates the temple and is one of the oldest and most valuable Buddhist statues in the city.
The Japanese nutmeg-yew standing at the back of the main hall is designated as a natural monument by Tokyo Metropolis.
With a height of about 25m and a basal-area circumference of 6.3m, it is one of the largest in the greater Tokyo. Its height and the thickness of its trunk give a sense of history and vital force.
