The Kawazu Heian Buddha Statue Pavilion displays Buddha statues created during the Heian period (794 to 1185), which were handed down to Nanzen-ji Temple.
In Kawazu-cho, a glamorous Buddhist culture flourished during the Heian period.
The main seated statue of Yakushi Nyorai in Nanzen-ji Temple is the oldest Buddha statue in Shizuoka Prefecture.
A total of 24 Buddha statues are on display at this pavilion.
