Omachi Sangaku Museum

The Omachi Sangaku Museum is a museum themed on mountains.
It has dioramas and stuffed specimens, along with minerals, to show the flora and fauna and their habitats while explaining the Northern Japan Alps’ geological aspects, beginning with the Fossa Magna. The museum also introduces historical mountain climbers and exhibits the tools that were used for mountain climbing.
The attached zoo and botanical garden keeps Japanese serows and grows Dicentra peregrina. It also shows raicho birds (rock ptarmigan), which are a nationally protected species.
