Jorakuji Temple

Jorakuji Temple is located at the northwest foot of Aboshi mountain.
It is an ancient Tendai sect temple, known as one of the Three Temples of Konan.
The temple was the central temple of “Aboshi Mountain’s 5,000 Priests,” which were founded by Roben in the middle of the Nara period (710-794).
It is said that in the early Heian period (794–1185), the temple, as well as Chojuji Temple, was earnestly worshiped by the emperors.
The main hall and the three-story pagoda are designated as national treasures.
The scenery of the two buildings standing tall next to each other is breathtaking.
