Takiyama Castle Remains

The Takiyama Castle Remains have been designated as a national historic site and are said to be one of only a handful of medieval castle ruins still extant.
The castle was home to the Oishi clan, who were governors for the feudal domain of Musashi, but is said to have later become the home of the samurai Hojo Ujiteru.
The hilltop castle matched the natural form of the hill and comprised earthworks and a moat.
In April 2017, the remains were selected as one of the Continued Top 100 Japanese Castles by the Japan Castle Foundation.
Visitors to the site should use the Takiyama Tourism Parking Lot located close to the entrance to the ruins.
