Former Residence of Shimazaki Toson

The Former Residence of Shimazaki Toson is where the writer Shimazaki Toson spent the last years of his life. (Only the garden is open to public.)
In 1941, Shimazaki Toson visited Oiso to attend the “Oiso-no-sagicho” (fire festival).
Since then, he become fond of Oiso and lived here for about two years until his death in 1943.
Toson’s tenet was simplicity, and the residence reflects his taste.
