Ko'un-botoke

Ko'un-botoke

During work on a road extension, two five-wheeled pagodas were excavated from a depth of 1.5 metres.
Local people memorialized the two five-wheeled pagodas as matrimonial tombs.
Then, suddenly, there were five marriage proposals in the village.
After those local people were married, rumours spread that the two five-wheeled pagodas would bring happiness and they have become known as the 'lucky buddhas'.
The locals established the Lucky Buddha Caretakers' Association and continue today to worship the pagodas.
Nowadays, the temple is also known as a centre of sacred places for lovers, and many people from as far away as Shikoku, Kyushu, and the Kinki region come to pay homage to the Buddha of Good Fortune.
