Hokkesan Ichijyoji Temple
Hokkesan Ichijyoji Temple is an old and famous temple of the Tendai sect founded by Hodo Sennin in the first year of the Hakuchi era (650), and is temple No.26 in the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage.
The pilgrim's song also says, "Spring is a flower, summer is a tachibana orange, and autumn is a chrysanthemum. Hokke with its ever exquisite dharma".
It has the first cultural properties in the prefecture, including the national treasure three-storied pagoda, which is the oldest pagoda in Hyogo prefecture (built in the first year of the Jouan era (1171)), Buddhist statues and paintings designated as important cultural properties, and architecture etc. It is especially crowded with people during the autumn leaves season.
