Makinohara City Museum
The Sagara Castle used to comprise the Honmaru (inner ward), Ninomaru (second ward), and Sannomaru (third ward).
Being the center of the history of the region, the museum, located in the castle's honmaru, has around 150 records on display that relate to the Sagara, Honda, and primarily the Tanuma clans. Including a "waniguchi" shrine gong, the museum also exhibits around a hundred items designated by the prefecture as cultural assets.
The pines of the Ninomaru and the Sendai Kawagishi around the periphery of the building exude an aura of the Tanuma clan Jokamachi (castle town).
