Kumegawa Train Library

This is a community library in Misumi-cho.
It has a collection of 5,000 books, mainly picture books and children’s books, and also holds events such as readings of picture books to children.
The Kumegawa Train Library has a long history and has been operated by local residents since 1967, when there was no municipal library in Higashimurayama City.
The rolling stock at the time was received as stock abandoned by the Seibu Railway, and the current stock is the second generation.
The “train,” which stands in a housing complex and has 5,000 books, has been selected as one of the 50 views of Higashimurayama, and appeared in the movie “Sweet Bean” directed by Naomi Kawase and starring Kirin Kiki, which was set in Higashimurayama.
It is loved by everyone as a precious jewel of Higashimurayama.
