Hakucho Bridge

Taking about 40 years from conception to its completion in 1998 (Heisei 10), this is the largest suspension bridge in eastern Japan with a total length of 1,380 metres. It features an elegant white bridge that symbolises a swan spreading its wings.
The dynamic scenery during the day and the beautiful lights at night are charming. You can see the Hakucho Bridge from anywhere in the city, so its exciting to see it differently depending on the location.
There are 228 lights on the main cable and 44 on the main tower, all of which are lit by wind power from sunset to 12 pm. It was selected as a 'Night View Heritage of Japan/Light Up Heritage' in 2008 (Heisei 20).
