Former Muroran Station

Built in 1912 (Meiji 45), It is the oldest wooden station building in Hokkaido.
The roof's shape is a characteristic hipped roof, and the exterior of the roof and white walls retain the remnants of Meiji Western-style architecture. In contrast, the gabled roof outer circumference is an arcade-style called "Gangi".
The Former Muroran Station building operated as the third generation Muroran station until 1997 (Heisei 9), after which it was registered as a National Registered Tangible Cultural Property in 1999 (Heisei 11).
The SL 'D51 560' is also exhibited on the premises, which carried coal through the 'Coal Iron Port', a registered Cultural Heritage Property of Japan.
It is currently a tourist information center that functions as a hall, exhibition space, and rest area.
