Japanese Chess Museum in Tendo

The historic origins of shogi, or Japanese chess, are said to stem from a game called Chaturanga in ancient India.
It's still unknown as to how the game made its way over to Japan, but records show that it was being played as early as Japan's Heian period.
Since then, Japanese shogi has gone on to become its own unique game.
The Tendo City Shogi Museum features exhibits on shogi and pieces used to play the game. These exhibits include information on how shogi came to Japan, showcases of shogi across the world, explanations on how game pieces are made, and different works made by shogi artisans.
