Muro-ji Temple

Women were once forbidden on Mount Koya, so Muro-ji Temple is in turn referred to as “Women’s Kayo,” as women were allowed to visit the temple.
The temple grounds are home to a number of national treasures and important cultural properties, beginning with the elegant 5-storied pagoda. Rhododendron flowers in the spring and autumn leaves in the fall douse the grounds in color and attract many visitors.
It gained certification as a Japan Heritage in 2020.
