Matabei Zakura Cherry Tree

This weeping cherry tree, with a height of 13m and a trunk circumference of more than 3m, is said to be 300 years old.
Due to a legend in which the Sengoku warrior Goto Matabei, who was active in the Siege of Osaka, escaped to this spot and became a priest to end his days here, the tree is known locally as “Matabei Zakura.”
