Momono-o Waterfall

This gorgeous waterfall flows down beautifully from a height of around 23 meters.
The area around the waterfall has lush greenery during the spring and changing leaves in the fall, so the colors that each of the four seasons are known for are vividly represented here.
And the site has been a summer escape since ancient times.
Over on the left side at the bottom of the waterfall is the Fudo Sanzan Buddha carving, a noted work from the mid Kamakura period.
The third Sunday in July each year features a "Waterfall Opening" ceremony, which is held to pray for the safety and well-being of each visitor.
