Wakayama Castle
Wakayama Castle is located in the center of the city, directly in front of Wakayama City Hall.
It is one of the “Top100 castles” in Japan, with the castle tower restored after being burned down twice.
Wakayama City is a castle town in Kishu Domain with 555,000 koku (approximately 99.9 million liters of crop yield) that flourished around Wakayama Castle, which is the “symbol of Wakayama City”.
Inside the castle, there is the "Ohashi Corridor", a diagonal corridor bridge that is rare in Japan, and the "Momijikei Garden", which turns bright red in the season of autumn leaves, so there are many attractions other than the castle tower!
Enjoy strolling around Wakayama Castle by using the Wakayama City Sightseeing App, an audio AR guide application.
