Ryuzu Falls
This is an explosive mountain torrent that flows down over lava from Mount Nantai for 210 meters, and then over a rock face in the shape of stairs about 10m wide.
Its name is said to come from the fact that it looks like the head of a dragon when it is divided into two by large rocks near the basin.
We recommend visiting in May to June, when eastern Japanese honeywort and azaleas are in full floom.
Also, the autumn leaves that appear from late September are said to be the earliest to change color in Nikko City, making this a popular place that attracts many visitors.
