Takenouchi Mountain Pass
Takenouchi Mountain Pass is located on the border between Katsuragi City, Nara Prefecture, and Taishi Town, Minamikawachi-gun, Osaka Prefecture, where the Takenouchi Kaido (National Route 66) runs through.
It has been a major transportation hub since ancient times, and it is said that Prince Shotoku crossed this pass to travel between Shitennoji Temple and Asuka.
In addition, envoys such as the Sui Dynasty crossed the path to visit Asuka. Today, just north of the pass has been deeply dug out to accommodate National Route 166.
