Suibara Daikansho (Magistrate's Office)

In 1746, most of what we know as the Agano area of today (then a part of the Shibata Domain) was officially taken over by the shogunate. In order to oversee this process, a magistrate's office was established at the former site of Suibara Castle.
Recovered documents were used as reference to recreate the building to how it would have appeared in ancient times. The museum located adjacent to the office has a number of Agano specialty products, folk crafts, and more on display. (Free admission)
