Site of the Battle of Kawanakajima

There were five battles between warlords Takeda Shingen and Uesugi Kenshin that took place at Kawanakajima.
Hachimanbara was the site of a battle in 1561.
The battle here was the fiercest, and many of the army commanders, such as Takeda Shingen’s vice army-generals Takeda Tenkyu Nobushige and Yamamoto Kansuke, were killed during the fighting.
Currently, there are cherry blossoms planted around the park, and the open lawns and a pond are well maintained, providing citizens a place to relax.
