Yashagaike Pond

Yashagaike Pond is located at the top of a mountain about 1100m above sea level and is said to have never dried up since ancient times.
It is famous for the legend of Yashagaike Pond, in which a dragon granted the villagers' wish for rain and took the chief's daughter, Princess Yashaga, to the pond as his wife in return. The climb from the trailhead to the mysterious pond at the top of the mountain is about 3km and takes about 1.5 hours.
Yashagaike Pond is home to a variety of unique creatures and plants, and its fresh greenery in summer and beautiful autumn colours make it a hidden gem for mountaineering enthusiasts.
