Sengoku Yumekaido Hiking Course

This road, which runs through the mountainous area of Mori Town, has long been called the “Salt Road” connecting the provinces of Totomi (Shizuoka prefecture) and Shinano (Nagano prefecture).
It was also called the Akiba Road as the main approach to Mt. Akiba, the god protecting from fire, and was a “road of faith” where many travelers came and went.
The Akiba lanterns and signposts still bear the image of the city.
During the Warring States period, the Tokugawa Ieyasu and Takeda armies fought fierce battles in the area.
These battles were a disastrous defeat for the Tokugawa army, which lost many generals.
Even today, there are legends of the battles and several mounds to mourn the warlords’ spirits.
These mountains and fields, where nature and history have been preserved, are places where warlords fought desperately, and the road has been named the Sengoku Yume Kaido (Dream Road of the Warring States) after the dreams of the warlords.
It has been developed as a hiking course so that visitors can enjoy the history of the area while getting close to nature.
