Megijima Island (Onigashima)

Megijima Island is located about 20 minutes by ferry from Takamatsu Port.
In the central part of the island is Washigamine, which is about 187 meters above sea level.
In the middle of it is the "Onigashima Great Cave" with a width and depth of about 400 meters, which was discovered in the year of 1931.
Megijima is also known as "Onigashima" because it is said that demons lived there.
Other highlights include the Washigamine Observatory, from which one can overlook 360 degrees of the Seto Inland Sea, and Megijima Beach, which was selected as one of the 100 Most Pleasant Water Bath Locations.
It is a well known cherry blossom scenic area. In spring, about 3000 cherry blossom trees bloom all at once.
