Kyoto Taishakuten

This temple, called Shiunzan Kyoto Taishakuten, was founded in 780 by the lord Wake Kiyomasa.

The current main hall, rebuilt in 1688, is designated as a cultural asset by the Kyoto Prefecture.
The main deity, Taishakuten, is protector of Buddhism with the four heavenly kings and has long been known as the 'God of Wish Fulfillment'.
On the 700m long approach to the temple are 108 bells, which visitors ring one by one, known as the “Bells of One Hundred and Eight Wishes”.
The "Tora-san no Kane" (Bell of the Tiger) is also rung here.
