Birthplace of Hakushu Kitahara

Hakushu Kitahara is one of Japan’s most famous poets, was born in this house in Okinohatamachi to a family of sake brewers.
The house was designated as a historic site by Fukuoka Prefecture in 1968 and opened as a museum honoring the life and achievements of Kitahara in November the following year.
