Hakushu Festival Waterway Parade

This three-day event is held in memory of poet Hakushu Kitahara and takes place November 1 – 3 to commemorate the anniversary of his death on November 2.
At dusk, boats decorated with colorful lanterns parade through the canals, making for an incredible sight.
Temporary stages are constructed along the parade course, where locals form choirs or perform traditional music.
The evening is topped off by a fireworks show featuring 1,000 fireworks and the crowd sings a song based on one of Kitahara’s poems.
