Raikyuji Temple Garden

Raikyuji Temple Garden is a Japanese rock garden with beautiful views of azalea bushes that presents a different appearance each season of the year.
The garden was created around 1605 by Kobori Enshu, an artist and aristocrat who lived in the temple for a time.

Raikyuji Temple Garden is a Horai-style dry landscape garden and makes use of the technique of incorporating borrowed scenery, in this case that of Mt. Atago, located in Kyoto.
The garden’s exquisitely arranged stonework and the pruning of the azaleas to express ocean waves offer outstandingly aesthetic views, so it is no surprise the garden has been designated a national Place of Scenic Beauty.
