Asahidake

At an altitude of 2,291 meters, Asahidake is the tallest mountain in all of Hokkaido and it's featured on the "100 Famous Mountains of Japan".
The mountain is situated on the northern side of Daisetsuzan National Park with an expansive plateau zone and a varied selection of alpine plants.
The season for mountain climbing is relatively short, extending from late June to early October. But the natural landscape changes rapidly in a short time frame, which makes for some impressive sights.
This area is well-known as an early first stop for the fall season and colorful foliage, which brings droves of visitors.
