Taishi Michi Road

There is a legend that says during the Asuka period, Prince Shōtoku traveled along this road riding his favorite horse Kurokoma and accompanied by his attendant Chōshimaro, they traveled from Ikaruga-no-Miya through Miyake-no-Hara to Oharida-no-Miya in Asuka, thus people call this road "Taishi Michi Road".
Starting from Byōbu of Miyake Town in the center of the Nara basin heading towards Hotsu of Tawaramoto Town, the section of the straight path that runs obliquely in the south-southeast direction remains to this day.
This road was called "Sujikai Michi" due to its resemblance to sujikai, a material for reinforcement during construction.
